Even though fuel prices have fallen a bit in recent months, they're still higher than they've been in the last few years. Here are a few tips that will help improve your fuel economy so you don't go broke due to your long commutes.
- Keep your tank at least half-full at all times, especially during the winter. This will help keep you from stressing out about having enough gas as you drive around and help you avoid spending money you don't have in an emergency.
- Drive as evenly as you can. Avoid accelerating or braking too quickly when you're on the road, and obey the speed limit. Driving too fast or too slow will cause you to burn through a lot more fuel than you might think.
- Check your tire pressure. Low tire pressure will force your car to work harder, which will burn more fuel.
- Be mindful of your AC. It does use gas, so go without it if you can.
